The NORTHERN 20kg Olympic barbell is Olympic standard size, with 2 inch sleeves to fit standard Olympic bumper weight plates. As standard, the barbell comes with black zinc shaft, chrome sleeves and NORTHERN branded end caps.

The knurling is approx. 1.25mm in depth, with a volcano design for a grippy, yet not too aggressive, hold on the bar. There are 8 needle bearings, 4 per sleeve, as well as upgraded brass bushings for a great whip, perfect for Olympic lifts like clean and snatch.

NORTHERN barbells are perfectly suited for all gyms, whether home gyms or commercial gyms. They're robust and well built, and for the price, a great utility bar to have in your arsenal. They are made of spring steel underneath the finishing coats of chrome and zinc, with 190k PSI tensile strength.

Brush the knurling with a wire brush from time to time, as required, to remove chalk and other debris that may affect the grip.
Greasing the bushings every six months, or as required, is recommended to keep a consistent spin to it.
Avoid dropping the bar with no plates on, as this will damage the bearings and may stop the sleeves from spinning, and therefore the bearings would need replacing. If dropping the bar is the only safe option, disregard the above advice.
